Music is not a simple subject. Instead, it is a rather subjective one. Curating playlists for hundreds, thousands, then millions of radio listeners can be tricky. Consider the role music plays in a listener’s life — the selective and intimate nature of their choices. Listeners don’t just listen to music; they live inside it.

We allow music to regulate our emotions. Music maps our memories. We don’t remember years; we remember songs. Music forms part of our daily rituals. Music helps us bond socially, and our choices in music validate our personal identity.

So how does OFM curate a playlist that identifies with, bonds with, and maps the social cohesion of its listening audience in Central South Africa?

When OFM started 40 years ago, the brand itself — the nation, and the world, for that matter — naturally documented songs that would ultimately stand the test of time. These are what we’d consider ‘golden oldies’. For OFM, these stretch as far back as the eighties. Through soft research methods, such as OFM’s request programming, we’re able to take note of the brand’s most sought-after songs. Repetitive requests suggest that some songs are more popular than others. Given enough time, a brand learns that Tina Turner’s The Best, Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car, and many others are core audience favourites — thus, we bank these for rotation.

OFM maps the teenage years of its core median listener. This is the brand’s target persona — a composite of its core listener’s habits and identity — whom we call Odette. The theory applied here is that a listener’s personal taste and preference for music are shaped from the age of 13. These are the years when memories become linked to moments and music — your first party, first dance, first kiss. Friendship groups. Heartbreak. We sift through the biggest songs from these years and apply them to our playlist, knowing they’ve left an indelible mark on our audience’s memory. This is what underpins OFM’s music policy: ‘a sound that makes for easy listening — to recall an old, or create a new, memory’.

The recurrent category refers to songs that have peaked on the charts but are still familiar and popular enough to keep in rotation — these can be up to three years old.

Then comes the challenge of adding new music to the playlist. The world currently uploads over 106,000 new tracks to streaming platforms every single day — and that number includes a growing share of ‘debatable’ AI-generated songs.

Consider that volume against the following facts: radio cannot play more than approximately 350 songs a day. That’s 2,500 songs a week and 10,000 songs a month. Some stations worldwide rotate anywhere from 100 to 3,000 songs across their databases. More than 100,000 new songs a day makes this task considerably harder than it was in the eighties, when roughly 55 songs were produced every day.

So how does OFM navigate this flood of music? It starts with understanding the parameters set out in the station’s broadcast licence. From there, we frame a target audience and research broad music preferences within it. This can take the form of virtual music testing (VMT) — the modern evolution of the old auditorium music tests (AMTs) — for both large- and small-base tests. OFM runs quarterly digital music tests with its audience to gauge listeners’ appetite for current songs. This, hand in hand with daily song requests and the monitoring of similar brands and their charts, helps curate the collection of current songs played on the station. And that’s before factoring in the songs publishers and record labels pitch to feature on the brand.

Beyond formal testing, a crucial component of identifying songs is listening to the world and remaining curious about its song choices. This includes navigating malls, stadiums, stores, festivals, and filling stations, and using the ambient environment to hear which songs are most commonly played.

Finally comes the skill and art form of the music compiler: absorbing all of this information and applying it to the OFM music database. It takes real skill to choose and allocate songs across the station’s various music categories. Music compiling was once described as part science, part art — the ability to apply research while trusting intuition, backed by audience familiarity and the brand’s chosen music policy.

The above is a very rudimentary explanation of how OFM approaches music compiling — so much more goes into it. And while technology has enabled this space, the investment in music can never be underrated.

Music triggers a dopamine release in the brain and lowers stress hormones. It can even synchronise groups of people. When OFM applies its daily music playlists, it has to understand its audience personally. It must take into consideration the time of day, the day of the week, the time of year, and the season its audience is experiencing. It must be nuanced enough to understand the mood of its listener — the difference between the festive season and January. OFM has a policy so sensitive that, should fires be the scourge of the region, we pivot and pull songs referencing fire from rotation.

Any force with this much influence over people demands respect, and radio understands the power music holds over its audiences. Coupled with the presence of an adept radio personality, this makes radio broadcasting one of the most intimate media platforms out there. And while radio celebrates more than a century of broadcasting, it stands strong against modern platforms — many of which now position themselves as complementary to broadcast radio rather than substitutes for it.

Who is OFM?

In the heartland of South Africa, there’s a medium that moves people to action. OFM crafts the soundtrack to living in the Free State, Northern Cape, North West, and southern Gauteng. This region is rich in minerals and renewable energy, but its greatest treasure is its people. For decades, “ordinary” individuals from Central South Africa have achieved the extraordinary – from the birth of a liberation movement in Bloemfontein, to Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s beginnings in Klerksdorp, to Africa’s first astronaut, Mark Shuttleworth from Welkom.

Here, resilience fuels remarkable moments: a University of the Free State medical student crowned Miss World, the Griquas lifting the Currie Cup after 55 years. And every day, countless unsung heroes continue that legacy. We meet them where they are – as fans greet OFM’s cheerful yellow fleet crisscrossing the region for activations and outside broadcasts.

In a place where community defines quality of life, “stronger together” isn’t just a saying – it’s a way of being. When need arises, Central South Africa shows up. In October, our listeners helped raise R1.2m for CANSA. A one-day radiothon generated R300,000 to give the elderly and children a warmer winter in July.

We celebrate the lighter side too. Milk-tart mania swept through the region during our Melktertmeesters fun – leaving shelves bare, and on Heritage Day, our audience settled the braaibroodjie debate – traditional wins. And OFM CLOSET, the home of the famous Bakkie-arm, brings playfulness to life with punchy slogan merchandise.

As the leading commercial station in Central South Africa, OFM delivers not only entertainment but essential information to guide daily life and business.

Agriculture is the backbone of this region. Its world-class produce – lamb, beef, grapes, citrus, cherries, nuts, and more – is enjoyed across the globe. OFM’s heart beats agri. We know when the rains delay, when disease impacts value chains, and when farmers need us to stand with them. We even helped one farmer “go for gold in the green” with a new John Deere tractor.

OFM is the sound of NAMPO Harvest Day, the largest agricultural expo in the Southern Hemisphere, attracting 800 exhibitors and 100,000 visitors over four days.

We do not just broadcast to Central South Africa – we serve, and we celebrate it.

Four provinces. Three hundred thousand listeners. On air and online, another 300,000 streamed connections, with 250,000 social media followers.

One heartbeat that connects it all.

Shandor’s recognition highlights his contribution to radio and journalism, as well as his commitment to storytelling that informs, inspires and connects communities across Central South Africa.

The South African 40 Under 40 Awards celebrate emerging leaders and influential young professionals across a range of industries. Within the media category, the awards recognise radio presenters, journalists, media entrepreneurs and content creators who are helping shape the future of the industry and amplify important voices.

“We are incredibly proud of Shandor and this outstanding recognition,” says Nick Efstathiou, CEO of Central Media Group. “His work consistently demonstrates the values we believe in – quality storytelling and a genuine dedication to serving communities. This award is a well-deserved milestone for Shandor and a credit to the team behind OFM.”

Anchen Lintvelt, OFM’s Sales and Marketing Manager, says the recognition reflects Shandor’s role as an ambassador for both OFM and the region it serves. “This is an amazing award, and OFM as a brand is very proud to be associated with Shandor Potgieter. He is a true brand ambassador for OFM and Central South Africa,” says Lintveldt.

OFM-aanbieder vereer by South African 40 Under 40-toekennings

Wie is OFM?

The post OFM presenter recognised at South African 40 Under 40 Awards first appeared on Central Media Group.

This October, OFM is taking its PinkTober campaign to new heights with more fundraising events, a wider reach across Central South Africa, a new beneficiary, and an ambitious R1 million fundraising goal in support of people affected by breast cancer.

Under the theme Pushing Up PinkTober, OFM is dedicating its time, energy, and airwaves throughout October to raising funds for Cansa and Reach for Recovery, with every contribution helping provide support to those impacted by breast cancer.

A major highlight of this year’s campaign is the expansion of Bowling for Boobies, with nine fundraising events taking place across Central South Africa. From Bloemfontein and Welkom to Kimberley, Vryburg, and Potchefstroom, communities will have the opportunity to come together for a fun night out while making a meaningful difference.

Teams of four can enter for R2,500, with the full entry amount donated to OFM’s PinkTober beneficiaries. Each Bowling for Boobies event includes a Beefmaster Beef Burger dinner, complimentary gifts and refreshments, as well as opportunities to win prizes for the best-dressed team and best team name – plus plenty of bragging rights for the team with the most gees.

OFM marketing and sales manager Anchen Lintvelt says the station is committed to making this year’s campaign bigger and more impactful than ever. “We are so excited and very committed to going the absolute extra mile this PinkTober month to create a bigger and better experience for everybody who will be entering a team at any of our nine Bowling for Boobies events across Central South Africa! This way we will be able to raise more, donate more, and help more!”

The addition of Reach for Recovery to this year’s beneficiaries means that OFM’s fundraising efforts will reach even further, supporting organisations that play an important role in assisting people affected by breast cancer.

OFM is also encouraging listeners and communities to get involved beyond the bowling events. Pushing Up PinkTober is about more than simply turning Central South Africa pink; it is about turning that visibility into action, fundraising, and meaningful support.

The nine Bowling for Boobies events will take place on:

1 October – Bloemfontein

7 October – Welkom

8 October – Bethlehem

14 October – Potchefstroom

15 October – Vanderbijlpark

21 October – Klerksdorp

22 October – Vryburg

28 October – Hartswater

29 October – Kimberley

Spaces are limited, and teams are encouraged to book early. To enter a Bowling for Boobies event, or to make a donation towards OFM’s R1m PinkTober goal, visit ofmpinktober.co.za.

Roll in. Show up. Push up PinkTober.

Pinktober

OFM MAAK PINKTOBER GROTER!

1 Oktober – Bloemfontein

7 Oktober – Welkom

8 Oktober – Bethlehem

14 Oktober – Potchefstroom

15 Oktober – Vanderbijlpark

21 Oktober – Klerksdorp

22 Oktober – Vryburg

28 Oktober – Hartswater

29 Oktober – Kimberley

Kom rol saam. Daag op. Maak PinkTober groter.

Wie is OFM?

OFM, the sound of your life in Central South Africa, is pleased to announce that Shandor Potgieter, host of the flagship Good Morning Breakfast show, has been officially nominated in the Forty Under 40 Awards, in the Journalism (Radio, TV & Newspaper) category.

The Forty Under 40 Awards celebrate and honour South Africa’s young go-getters and entrepreneurs across various industries.

Potgieter’s nomination recognises his exceptional contributions to media and broadcasting, as well as his dedication to community engagement and philanthropic initiatives across the region. As a cornerstone of OFM’s morning lineup, Potgieter has earned a reputation for blending sharp wit with purposeful broadcasting, creating radio that is both entertaining and engaging.

Beyond the airwaves, his commitment to community upliftment, demonstrated through initiatives benefitting organisations like Reach for a Dream and the Cancer Association of South Africa, highlights the leadership principles championed by the Forty Under 40 platform.

Central Media Group Chief Executive Officer, Nick Efstathiou, says Potgieter’s nomination is well-deserved.

“Shandor’s nomination is a proof to his passion, work ethic, and the genuine impact he makes every day both on-air and within our communities. His ability to connect with listeners and leverage his platform for positive change reflects the very best of Central South Africa’s talent. We are exceptionally proud to see his hard work recognized on a national stage,” said Efstathiou.

Public voting for nominees is officially open at fortyunder40.co.za and will run until 30 August 2026.

Nominees will gather at the Under Forty Champion Summit on the 3rd of October, where winners across the various categories will be announced during a prestigious awards evening.

Who is OFM?

In the heartland of South Africa, there’s a medium that moves people to action. OFM crafts the soundtrack to living in the Free State, Northern Cape, North West and southern Gauteng.

This region is rich in minerals and renewable energy, but its greatest treasure is its people. For decades, ‘ordinary’ individuals from Central South Africa have achieved the extraordinary – from the birth of a liberation movement in Bloemfontein, to Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s beginnings in Klerksdorp, to Africa’s first astronaut, Mark Shuttleworth from Welkom.

Here, resilience fuels remarkable moments: a University of the Free State medical student crowned Miss World, the Griquas lifting the Currie Cup after 55 years. And every day, countless unsung heroes continue that legacy. We meet them where they are – as fans greet OFM’s cheerful yellow fleet criss-crossing the region for activations and outside broadcasts.

In a place where community defines quality of life, ‘stronger together’ isn’t just a saying – it’s a way of being. When need arises, Central South Africa shows up. In October, our listeners helped raise R1.2 million for CANSA. A one-day radiothon generated R300 000 to give the elderly and children a warmer winter in July.

We celebrate the lighter side too. Milk-tart mania swept through the region during our “melktert meesters” fun – leaving shelves bare, and on Heritage Day, our audience settled the braaibroodjie debate – traditional wins. And OFM CLOSET, the home of the famous “bakkie arm,” brings playfulness to life with punchy slogan merchandise.

As the leading commercial station in Central South Africa, OFM delivers not only entertainment but essential information to guide daily life and business.

Agriculture is the backbone of this region. Its world-class produce – lamb, beef, grapes, citrus, cherries, nuts and more – is enjoyed across the globe. OFM’s heart beats agri. We know when the rains delay, when disease impacts value chains, and when farmers need us to stand with them. We even helped one farmer “go for gold in the green” with a new John Deere tractor.

OFM is the sound of NAMPO Harvest Day, the largest agricultural expo in the southern hemisphere, attracting 800 exhibitors and 100 000 visitors over four days.

We do not just broadcast to Central South Africa – we serve, and we celebrate it.

Four provinces. Three hundred thousand listeners. On air and online, another 300 000 streamed connections, with 250 000 social media followers.

One heartbeat that connects it all.

OFM – the sound of your life.

OFM ONTBYTPROGRAM-AANBIEDER BENOEM VIR VERNAME 40 UNDER 40 TOEKENNING

Potgieter is die aanbieder van OFM se vlagskipprogram, The Good Morning Breakfast.

As business owners, we’ve all said it before.

“We’ll advertise next month.”
“Let’s wait until things pick up.”
“Maybe after winter.”
“We’ll do something when the budget allows.”

The problem is this: while we’re waiting, life doesn’t stop.
Your customers are still driving to work every morning. They’re still listening to the radio over breakfast. They’re still shopping, planning weekends, booking holidays, renovating homes, buying vehicles, choosing restaurants, and deciding who they trust with their business.

The question is: are they hearing about you?

Every day at OFM, we meet business owners who tell us they wish they’d started advertising sooner. Not because advertising magically solves every business challenge, but because it keeps their business in the conversation. It reminds people they’re there. It builds familiarity. And when the time comes to make a purchase, familiar brands are often the ones people choose first.

Think about the businesses you know best. Chances are they didn’t become household names by waiting for the perfect opportunity. They became successful because they consistently showed up. They stayed visible. They invested in building relationships long before customers needed them.

That’s exactly what radio does.

Radio isn’t simply about reaching thousands of people. It’s about reaching the right people in the moments that matter. It’s a trusted companion during school runs, morning commutes, long-distance travel, and busy workdays. It’s there during celebrations, difficult times, and everyday life. Your message becomes part of that trusted environment.

Unlike many other forms of advertising that disappear with the swipe of a finger, radio creates a sense of companionship. Listeners don’t just hear a station; they become part of its community. And when your business advertises on OFM, it becomes part of that conversation too.

Perhaps the biggest misconception about advertising is that it’s only for businesses that need more customers.

The reality is that advertising is just as important when business is doing well.

Because markets change.

Competitors become more aggressive.

Consumer habits evolve.

The businesses that continue to invest in their brand are often the ones that remain strong through every season.

At OFM, we believe every business has a story worth telling. Whether you’ve been serving your community for 40 years or you’ve just opened your doors, your customers deserve to know who you are and why they should choose you.

Waiting won’t grow your brand.

Waiting won’t build awareness.

Waiting won’t create opportunities.

Action will.

So, before another month passes, ask yourself one simple question:

What are you waiting for?

Let’s start the conversation.

Let’s put your business where your customers are already listening.

Let’s make your brand part of The Sound of Your Life.

After a month of listeners showcasing the many ways OFM forms part of their everyday life across Central South Africa, OFM has announced Vryburg listener Hannelie Gerber as the winner of its SHOW YOUR OFM competition, taking home the grand prize of R40 000 in cash.

Launched as the grand finale of OFM’s 40th birthday celebrations, the competition invited listeners to capture a photo showing how OFM is part of their daily routines. Whether listeners tuned in from the road, the office, the farm, the kitchen, or around the braai, the entries highlighted the special connection between the station and its audience.

Hannelie’s winning entry – a photo of her getting the OFM logo tattooed on her arm – perfectly captured the spirit of the SHOW YOUR OFM competition. Her bold display of loyalty and enthusiasm impressed the judges and ultimately earned her the top prize.

“I had to choose between changing my name to OFM at Home Affairs or getting the OFM logo tattooed on my arm!” Hannelie jokes.

She says she’s been an OFM listener since her high school days, when the station was still known as Radio Oranje. She remembers falling asleep with the station playing in the background and says OFM has been part of her life ever since.

“To me, OFM is my bestie,” she adds.

According to Tim Thabethe, OFM’s Programming Manager, “This campaign crowned OFM’s 40th birthday celebration. To witness the incredible effort and creativity shown by our audience reaffirms that OFM truly has a special place in the hearts of the people of Central South Africa. It is both a privilege and an honour. OFM remains the sound of Central South Africa’s life.”

The SHOW YOUR OFM competition concludes a successful year of special promotions, events, and giveaways celebrating OFM’s 40 years on air. While one lucky listener walks away with R40 000, every entry served as a reminder of the enduring relationship between OFM and the communities it has proudly served for four decades.

OFM extends its sincere thanks to everyone who entered the competition and joined in celebrating this milestone.

And every day, countless unsung heroes continue that legacy. We meet them where they are – as fans greet OFM’s cheerful yellow fleet crisscrossing the region for activations and outside broadcasts.

OFM-luisteraar wen R40 000 in SHOW YOUR OFM-kompetisie

SHOW YOUR OFM-kompetisie perfek vasgevang.

“Vir my is OFM my beste vriendin,” voeg sy by.

Wie is OFM?

OFM listeners have once again proven the power of community – this time by raising R323,980.89 during The Big Cover-Up, which took place on Wednesday, 3 June 2026.

The annual winter campaign set out to raise R200,000 in cash donations to assist nongovernmental organisations in providing blankets and food to older persons and children, who are among those most vulnerable during the harsh winter months. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of listeners and supporters across Central South Africa, the campaign exceeded its target by more than R123,000.

All donations were distributed by Round Table South Africa to 36 beneficiaries across the Free State, Northern Cape, North West, and Vaal regions. Beneficiaries included old-age homes, children’s homes and other organisations caring for vulnerable members of their communities.

“The generosity of our Central South African community is filled with such love. It’s who we are as people – to care for our community,” said Nick Efstathio, CEO of OFM.

OFM’s Marketing and Sales Manager Anchen Lintvelt thanked Round Table South Africa and its volunteers for helping ensure the donations reached those who needed them most. “Being able to work with partners like Round Table South Africa on these types of projects makes the manual labour so much lighter and the distribution of the donations so much faster. To all 18 Tables in Central South Africa, our sincere thanks for the effort you have made to ensure that the nursing homes and children’s homes are provided with blankets and essential products for the cold winter,” said Lintvelt.

OFM extends its heartfelt gratitude to every listener, donor, partner and volunteer who contributed to the success of The Big Cover-Up. Every donation has helped bring warmth, comfort and hope to those facing the challenges of winter.

OFM – the sound of your life.

OFM samel meer as R323 000 in vir winterbystand

Radio sal altyd magic wees.

“As jy 40 jaar teruggaan, is daar nog baie ooreenkomste.

Destyds was jy betrokke by alles.”

“OFM sal altyd ’n spesiale plek in my hart hê.

“Radio is groter as individue … of jy ’n bestuurder is of koffiekoppies was, jy is deel van ’n spesiale span.

By Nick Efstathiou, CEO of the Central Media Group t/a OFM

When assessing the economic engines of South Africa, the coastal giants of Cape Town and Durban, along with the extensive financial hub of Gauteng, typically dominate the conversation. However, in between these economic centres lies a region that functions as the heart and core of the country. We call it Central South Africa.

Encompassing the Free State, parts of the Northern Cape, and the North West and Vaal, this region forms a crucial economic spine.

Far from being mere “transit territory,” Central South Africa possesses a unique, highly diversified economic ecosystem. By serving as the nation’s breadbasket, a massive mining powerhouse, and a vital logistical crossroads, the region exerts an outsized influence on the country’s macroeconomic stability and industrial supply chains.

Central South Africa is the cornerstone of the country’s food security. The region’s geography is characterised by rolling plains and rich, arable soil, making it ideally suited for large-scale commercial farming.

The Free State alone produces over 30% of South Africa’s total maize harvest, split between white maize (a critical national dietary staple) and yellow maize (primarily used for animal feed). Beyond maize, Central South Africa accounts for the majority of the country’s sorghum, sunflower seeds, and soybeans.

The vast grasslands of the Free State and the Northern Cape support extensive cattle and sheep farming, fuelling the meat processing and dairy sector that supplies urban markets nationwide.

This agricultural expertise extends far beyond primary farming. A sophisticated agro-processing network has developed across central towns like Bloemfontein, Bethlehem, and Kroonstad. Milling companies, dairy packaging plants, and food manufacturing facilities convert raw agricultural products into high-value consumer goods, creating a highly resilient rural economy that acts as a buffer during broader industrial downturns.

If agriculture forms the surface identity of Central South Africa, its underground mineral wealth provides its raw economic muscle. The central provinces sit atop some of the richest geological formations on earth, manganese and iron ore, gold and diamonds and the clean energy transition.

The Northern Cape contains roughly 80% of the world’s known manganese reserves. Manganese is an irreplaceable component in the production of steel and, increasingly, next-generation electric vehicle batteries. Combined with massive iron ore operations in towns like Kathu, this region is a vital foreign exchange earner for South Africa, driving billions of Rands in export revenue through the Sishen-Saldanha railway line.

The Free State Goldfields, centred around Welkom, has historically been one of the world’s most prolific gold-producing regions. While deep-level gold mining has matured, the extraction of diamonds along the Orange and Vaal rivers, along with historic operations in Kimberley, remains a highly lucrative sector that anchors local municipal economies.

As global markets transition toward cleaner energy, Central South Africa’s mining sector is pivoting toward critical minerals. The abundance of copper, zinc, and lithium deposits in the region ensures that it will remain highly relevant to global technology and energy supply chains well into the future.

Geography is Central South Africa’s greatest economic asset. Positioned directly in the middle of the country, the region serves as the bridge connecting the manufacturing core of Gauteng with the export ports of the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal.

The N1 Highway, the ultimate transport artery of South Africa, cuts directly through the centre of the Free State. This is complemented by the N8 Corridor, which establishes an east-west trade route linking Lesotho through Bloemfontein all the way to the Northern Cape and Namibia.

Because thousands of freight trucks pass through the central interior daily, cities like Bloemfontein have transformed into strategic inland logistics hubs. Massive warehousing complexes, distribution centres, and truck-stop economies have emerged.

In recent years, Central South Africa has rapidly emerged as the forerunner of the country’s green energy transition. The Northern Cape and western Free State boast some of the highest solar plants in the world, alongside highly consistent wind patterns.

The region has attracted billions of Rands in private and public investment through the Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (IPPPP). Vast fields of solar panels and towering wind turbines now dot landscapes that were once exclusively reserved for sheep farming. This booming clean energy sector does more than just feed desperately needed electricity into the national grid, it actively drives infrastructure development, technical skill transfer, and specialized engineering jobs to historically under-serviced rural communities.

Central South Africa is far more than a scenic backdrop for travellers driving between the country’s coastal cities. It is an indispensable economic powerhouse. Its fields feed the nation, its mines anchor global heavy industry, its highways carry the lifeblood of domestic trade, and its sun-drenched plains are illuminating the future of clean energy.

Central South Africa, is South Africa’s Heart.

Who is OFM?

In the heartland of South Africa, there’s a medium that moves people to action. OFM crafts the soundtrack to living in the Free State, Northern Cape, North West and the Vaal.

And, OFM CLOSET, home of the famous “bakkie arm,” brings playfulness to life with punchy slogan merchandise.

We don’t just broadcast to Central South Africa – we serve and we celebrate it.

Four provinces. Three hundred thousand listeners. On air and online another three hundred thousand streamed connections, with 250 000 social media followers.

One heartbeat that connects it all.

Central South Africa’s Sound of Your Life, OFM, is proud to announce the return of its winter blanket drive, The BIG Cover Up, for a second consecutive year.

Listeners and businesses are encouraged to tune in on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, from 06:00 to 18:00 and make a contribution. The campaign aims to raise R200 000 in cash donations to assist NGOs in providing blankets and food to older persons and children, who are among those most affected by the harsh winter cold.

Donations can be made via ofmbigcoverup.co.za. Only cash donations will be accepted, with a minimum contribution of R100. Please note that no blanket or food donations will be collected.

“The need for blankets and warm clothing increases every year. Together we can make a difference in the lives of children and the elderly who need it most. The Big Cover up is not just aimed to cover Central South Africa with blankets, but to also warm the hearts of those who will be receiving the donations,’’ says OFM sales and marketing manager Anchen Lintvelt.

In collaboration with Round Table Southern Africa, OFM will identify NGOs within local communities through regional Round Tables. These partner organisations will ensure that funds are used to purchase and distribute essential winter relief where it is needed most.

“For the second year, we have the opportunity to raise funds for people in our communities who need support during the winter months. The people of Central South Africa have hearts of gold, and every contribution made towards this initiative is incredibly meaningful to all of us,” says OFM CEO Nick Efstathiou.

OFM bied weer The BIG Cover Up aan

Wie is OFM?

The post OFM hosts The BIG Cover Up again first appeared on Central Media Group.
