OFM requires the services of a radio news bulletin compiler and reader who can write and present news fluently in Afrikaans and English for a commercial radio format.
Successful candidate will join OFM’s newsroom in Bloemfontein, reporting to the news editor.
What we’re looking for
Candidates should have:
- Preferably a relevant degree or diploma in journalism, communications or media studies.
- Experience in compiling and reading radio news bulletins, preferably in a live newsroom environment.
- Exceptional written and spoken Afrikaans and English, with a clear and professional on-air delivery.
- Strong knowledge of current affairs and OFM’s broadcast footprint in the Free State, North West, southern Gauteng, and Northern Cape.
- Excellent commercial radio news-writing, editorial judgement and the ability to source, verify and prioritise stories independently.
- The ability to edit audio and use newsroom and broadcasting software.
- Strong organisational skills, accuracy under pressure and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- The ability to work independently, follow editorial direction, set the daily news agenda and lead the team when required.
- Residence in Bloemfontein or willingness to relocate.
Knowledge of media law and BCCSA requirements, familiarity with OFM’s audience and previous live broadcasting or breaking-news experience will be advantageous.

- Die vermoë om onafhanklik te werk, redaksionele leiding te volg, die daaglikse nuusagenda te bepaal en die span te lei wanneer nodig.
- Verblyf in Bloemfontein of bereidwilligheid om te verhuis.
Kennis van mediareg en BCCSA-vereistes, vertroudheid met OFM se gehoor en vorige ervaring met regstreekse uitsendings of brekende nuus sal voordelig wees.
